National cadet champion, Matthew Kuti, and Lagos State champion, Muiz Adegoke, will renew their rivalry at the Lagos State Table Tennis Association (LSTTA) junior and cadet championship, which is debuting at Lagos Country Club on September 5.

Ikorodu-based Kuti announced himself at the national level when he won the Aso Cup in Abuja. He has continued to be relevant after finishing second behind Bayelsa’s Samuel Boboye at the national championship.

Adegoke, who, on his part, has been unbeaten at junior level in Lagos, has shown his quality against Kuti at the last LSTTA tournament.

According to LSTTA chairman, Tunji Lawal, the tournament will unearth new talents as well as allow more players to showcase their skills.

“We believe catching them young will surely help to discover new players because talents abound in the state. This tournament is part of our plans to continue the state’s dominance in table tennis,” Lawal said.

Lawal said outstanding players would be awarded scholarships, while table tennis equipment would be given to players that distinguish themselves during the one-day championship.
