England ’S Leicester City and Lille of France yesterday took to their twitter handles to congratulate their stars star, Wilfred Ndidi and Victor Osimhen, who are among the nominees for the CAF Footballer of the Year awards. The nominees’ list for the CAF player of the year award was released yesterday with Wilfred Ndidi and Victor Osimhen leading the way for Nigeria.

Reacting to the nomination, a post from Les Douges social media handle read: “Huge CONGRATS to @victorosimhen9 on making the shortlist for African Player of the Year 2019.”Leicester City also posted something similar in congratulating their midfield enforcer, Wilfred Ndidi. The Foxes also congratulated the 22-year-old after making his 100th appearance for the team in last weekend’s win over Brighton Hove and Albion.

Also reacting to his nomination is Shanghai Greenland Shenhua striker, Odion Ighalo, who went spiritual to celebrate his nomination in CAF’s 30 men shortlist.

Ighalo’s nomination comes after he won the golden boot at the 2019 Africa Cup in Egypt-scoring five goals. Although he retired from international football after the tournament, his performance in the biennial tournament was enough to earn him a spot in the nominee’s list.

Reacting to his nomination, Ighalo decided to go religious on his social media page.“God is going to put you in a place of honour even when men think you don’t deserve it,” the former Granada striker posted on his Twitter page. The winner of the award will be announced on January 7, 2020, in a ceremony that will take place at Citadel Azure, Hurghada, Egypt.
