Sports Minister Solomon Dalung,

The Ministry of Sports yesterday suspended Athletics Federation of Nigeria’s (AFN) Vice President, Mr. Olamide George from all athletics related activities pending completion of its investigation into allegations of drugs violation labeled against him.

Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung will today inaugurate a five-man committee to investigate the allegations of doping rules violation and improper conduct against George. The event is scheduled for 1.00 p.m. at the minister’s conference room in Abuja.

This follows a petition to the Athletics World Body, IAAF and the World Anti-Doping Agency WADA by Tafida Gadzama, a member of the AFN board representing the North East.

Gadzama alleged doping violations against George and an athlete Sade Abugan said to have taken place during the Commonwealth Games in India in 2012.
