The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) yesterday released names of the 14 players that will represent the country at the ICC U-19 World Cup Africa Division Two qualifier billed to hold in Namibia from March 13 to 24, 2019.

The competition will feature Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria and Namibia, all vying for a place in the ICC U-19 2020 World Cup in South Africa.

The Junior Yellow Greens, as the team is known, have been in open camp in Abuja for the last 10 days in Abuja, where they played five series of 50 overs ODI matches.

Among the players selected for the team are such familiar faces as Olaleye Elijah, Runsewe Suleiman, Jimoh Abdulraman, and Peter Aho. There are three debutants in the team, including Akhere Isesele, who is regarded as a future star of the national team.

In the Junior Yellow Greens’ team to be captained by Sylvester Okpe are Emmanuel Boniface, Aho Peter, Abolarin Rasheed, Taiwo Mohammed, Audu Isiaka, Ifeanyi Uboh, Isaac Danladi, Sylvester Okpe, Jimoh Abdulrahman, Isesele Akhere, Miracle Ikiaghe Rusenwe Sulaimon, Olaleye Elijah and Mba Samuel.

Nigeria against all odds in 2018 defeated Ghana, Rwanda, Mozambique, Tanzania and Sierra Leone to lift the ICC U-19 Africa Division Two trophy in Potchefstroom, South Africa.
 
The NCF, which said it is looking for a repeat performance, disclosed that the date for closed camping would be released in due time.
