Nigeria will become the great country envisaged by the country’s pioneer leaders if the youths are well-groomed and given opportunities to develop their potentials, chairman of the Blaugrana Group, Leslie Oghomienor, has said.

Speaking at the Teslim Balogun Stadium during an inspection tour of facilities of the elite Barca Academy Nigeria ahead of the resumption of the academy, Oghomienor said because Nigeria’s greatness and power as a nation is in the hands of the youths, the Blaugrana Group has adopted a “holistic approach in growing this future to enable us to arrive our destination soundly.”

According to him, Nigeria can discover its hidden treasures by helping the youths fulfill their goals, and fully live their dreams.

After the inspection, the Barca Academy boss also attended the group’s technical support meeting where modalities for the academy’s resumption in line with protocols stipulated by the government were discussed.

The event took a dramatic turn when a group of excited young football enthusiasts, led by Mmbatno Athanasius, came to show their appreciation for the opportunities the Barca Academy has created for them.

The children expressed their gratitude to the Blaugrana Sports Group for bringing the elite Barca Academy Group to sub-Saharan Africa, as well as sponsoring FC Bulmaro, which is currently playing in the National League One.

Speaking on behalf of the youths, Athanasius said the Blaugrana Sports Group had done well in just three years by founding a youth football club and also sponsoring over 163 youths and many coaches to Barcelona, Spain on a full scholarship through its Elite 86 Scholarship project.

Commending individuals, companies, and other groups for their contributions to youth development, Mmbatno stressed the need for more sustainable support programmes for youth development and sports, adding: “it is a good way to tame youth excesses and unemployment.”

Replying, Oghomienor assured the youths that the Barcelona Academy and FC Bulmaro would soon resume their activities, adding: “We know that some of you were meant to travel to Barcelona, Spain, for the Donotic World Cup tournament this year, but that was not possible because of the global pandemic. We pray that with the help of God, we will be able to go to Spain, next year, even with more people.”
