Offor urges Sporting Lagos’ fans to shun hooliganism

Sporting Lagos FC Coach, Paul Offor, has expressed dismay over the poor conduct of some of his team’s fans during their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) home game against Heartland of Owerri at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos, at the weekend.

Speaking after the game, which ended 1-1, Offor advised the fans to avoid the must-win-at-home attitude, saying that football is an unpredictable game.

“Fans should not expect us to win every league game or threaten our opponents during matches.The glamour in the NPFL this season is that teams can win games anywhere, home or away. This has put the league on a good light. But violent conducts puts the game in bad light.”

It will be recalled that fans started throwing objects at Heartland players during the game on Sunday when the Owerri team, who were leading 1-0, adopted time wasting tactics. But security operatives got the situation under control.

Angered by the hostile reception from the fans, the Nazi Millionaires shunned the post match conference. The team and their officials left the stadium immediately after the game alleging threats to their lives and property.
