Nigeria will become a truly great country if the youths are given the platform to hone their skills and achieve their potential in everything they do, proprietor of the Barcelona Academy Lagos, Leslie Oghomienor, has said.

Speaking at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, where the Barca Academy Group discussed modalities for the resumption of contact sports as announced by the Federal Government, Oghomienor said the country is blessed with a large youth population, who need clear guidance to lift the country to great heights.

Addressing some members of the academy, led by Mmbatno Athanasius, Oghomienor assured the youths that the academy was working to ensure that things returned to normal in the camp.

He said, “We all know that some of you were meant to travel to Barcelona, Spain, for the Donotic World Cup tournament this year, which was scuttled by the global pandemic. We pray that with the help of God, we will be able to go to Spain next year, even with more people.

“We acknowledge that Nigeria’s greatness and power as a nation lie in the youths, our approach in growing this future is holistically inclusive.”

Also speaking at the meeting, Anthanasius called on government at all levels to encourage and support bodies like Blaugrana Sports to build the nation through sports.

He added that the Blaugrana Sports Group has done well in three years, single handedly founding and sponsoring a youth football club, as well as sponsoring over 163 youths to Barcelona, Spain through its Elite 86 scholarship project.
