
Female national team basketball star, Patience Okpe, is optimistic that the Nigerian women team will scale the hurdle in Group C when they confront Belarus and South Korea in the Rio 2016 Olympics qualifier.
Okpe noted that the tune up matches against Argentina and France would put the team in top form for the qualifier billed to hold from June 13 to 19 in Nantes France.
The Dolphins of Lagos point guard, who was among the best top five players in the Zenith Bank Female Basketball League, declared that the D’Tigress were not scared of any team in the series, adding that getting the Rio 2016 ticket was the team’s top priority now.
She believes that with hard work and resilience, the team would succeed at the championship, adding, “I am sure D’ Tigress will make it to the Rio Olympics. Getting the ticket is the main objective of the team now. I don’t think any team in our group can bring us down,’’ she said.
Nigeria has already played Turkey in the first of their friendly matches on May 27 and 28. They lost the two matches 68-56 and 67-56.The team is currently waiting for their visas from the French Embassy to proceed to the tournament.
