Super Eagles hopeful, Gift Orban, is set to commence his medical before joining Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim from French Ligue 1 side, Lyon.

The deal is expected to be in the range of €9m to the French side in the scheme of things.

The Christian Holzer-managed side was in pole position to sign the Benue-born player after fellow Ligue 1 side RC Lens set their sights on him.

Orban has had it rough with his current club, Lyon, after he went down the pecking order.

He was only able to manage a goal this season despite 13 appearances, and disciplinary issues also compounded his situation at the club.

Though the 21-year-old scored two goals in three appearances for Les Gones in the Coupe de France.

Orban joined Lyon from Belgian Pro League side KAA Gent in January 2023.

On his first appearance in the 2024–25 season, he came off the bench with Lyon trailing 3–2 against Strasbourg and scored twice in nine minutes to win the game for his team.

His move to Hoffenheim will see him reunite with another Nigerian at the club, Kevin Akpoguma.

Transfermarkt has valued the versatile forward at €10m.
