Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen, has undergone surgery in Istanbul following a broken arm he sustained during the Champions League clash against Liverpool.
His club, Galatasaray, confirmed yesterday that the operation was successful, saying that further updates will be shared through official channels.
According to sportsnow.com.ng, Osimhen had earlier stated that his recovery would take approximately five to six weeks, meaning he is expected to miss around five matches.
The forward will be absent from crucial Super Lig fixtures against Trabzonspor, Goztepe, Kocaelispor, and Gençlerbirliği, as well as the Turkish Cup quarterfinal against Genclerbirligi.
There are fears that Osimhen might not be fit in time for the highly anticipated Fenerbahce derby at the end of April. His availability will depend on how quickly he responds to treatment and rehabilitation.
Before his injury, Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle had already excluded Osimhen from his squad for this week’s Four Nations Invitation tournament featuring Jordan, Iran, and Costa Rica.
Nigeria will face Iran on March 27 and Jordan on March 31.
