China’s gold medal winners in Paris Olympics

China on Saturday became the first country to win gold at the ongoing Paris Olympics games.

The Chinese clinched the gold medal in shooting 10m air rifle mixed team thanks to teenaged duo Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao.

Their 16-12 win, haltinga late challenge from the South Korean pair of Keum Ji-hyeon and Park Ha-jun, ensured China remain the only country to win the gold in the mixed team event introduced in Tokyo 2020 games.

Also, China clinched a second gold at Paris 2024 this time in the women’s synchronised 3m springboard.

Chang Yani and Chen Yiwen dominated in the event making it the sixth title in a row for China in this event dating back to Athens 2004.

Sarah Bacon and Kassidy Cook of the United States won silver medal, which means they landed their country’s first medal in Paris.

Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen claim a first-ever bronze for Team Great Britain in diving women’s synchronised 3m springboard.

Meanwhile, this summer’s Olympic first medal was won by Kazakhstan, which was bronze in shooting 10m air rifle mixed team.

It is Kazakhstan’s first Olympic medal in shooting since Atlanta 1996.
