Russian star aims for Olympics points at Nigeria Open
Russia’s Yana Noskova, who is one of the top seeded players for the 2019 ITTF Challenge Plus Nigeria Open, says she is in Lagos to garner points for her eventual qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The Russian star explained: “I have now started my Olympic year, so I will try to play more tournaments for my ranking. Also Nigeria Open is a Challenge Plus tournament where I can amass points.”
She admitted she was convinced by her compatriots to be part of the party in Nigeria, adding, “I heard from some Russian players, who had played in Nigeria before that the tournament is nice. it is like all other tournaments with good hotel, good hall and good organization.”
On her target in Lagos, Noskova said: “I will try to show my best. It will be my first tournament after small summer rest. So I hope I will start it good. I also we try to show good result in the doubles event with Polina Mikhailova.”
She disclosed her intention to practice in Moscow under the watchful eyes of Russian national coach, David Sargsyan for Nigeria Open.
