Safety shooters’ title ambition suffer setback against Lagos Seasiders

Defenders Babes, Kada Queens, Tojemarine Academy, Lagos Seasiders and D Defenders yesterday secured victories in the women and men categories of the ongoing Prudent Energy Handball Premier League holding at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja. 

Seasider Babes lost 22 to 24 to Defender Babes in the opening match of Day Nine, while Kada Queens defeated Confluence Queens 31 to 22 in the female category.

However, in the male class, Plateau Vipers lost 23 to 25 Tojemarine Academy, while the defending champions, Safety Shooters suffered a shocking 26 to 30 loss to Lagos Seasiders, as D Defenders narrowly defeated Kada Stars 20 to 19.

Speaking on their victory against the defending champions, Safety Shooters, Lagos Seasiders’ Ibrahim Dikko said his team’s aspiration is to win this year’s edition of the premier league.

“I am hoping that this winning performance will propel us to the league title. It is our aim to win this year,” he said.

Meanwhile, in today’s fixtures, Defender Babes will take on Confluence Queens in opening game of the female category, while Adorable Angels will square up with Bayelsa Queens in the second match.

In the men’s cadre, Rima Strikers will battle Lagos Seasiders, while Confluence Stars will take on Safety Shooters, as Plateau Vipers will square up with D Defenders, Police Machine have a duel against Kada Stars, Kano Pillars will take on COAS Shooters and Tojemarine Academy have a date against Niger United.
