Rasheed Isa Salami produced another impressive display for Gombe United on Sunday, earning the Man of the Match award in his side’s 1-1 draw against Yobe Desert Stars in a Nigeria National League Group D fixture.
The 22-year-old winger was one of Gombe United’s most influential players, causing problems for the visitors throughout the contest with his pace, movement and ability to take on defenders.
Operating mainly from the left flank but also switching to the right when required, Salami stretched the opposition defence, linked play effectively and created openings as Gombe United secured a valuable point.
Away from his attacking responsibilities, the former FC Mitrovica player also contributed defensively, tracking back to support his teammates, pressing high up the pitch and helping his side regain possession during key moments of the game.
The performance continued an encouraging run of form for the winger, who has become an important part of Gombe United’s attacking setup this season. His ability to operate on either wing has given the Savannah Scorpions added flexibility in the final third.
Before joining Gombe United, Salami featured for Kosovo side FC Mitrovica, where he gained valuable experience that has contributed to his tactical awareness and composure on the ball.
His latest display follows a series of notable performances during the 2025/26 campaign. Earlier in the season, he impressed in Gombe United’s victory over Bichi First FC and was also among the team’s standout performers despite their defeat to Jigawa Golden Stars.
Still only 22, Salami continues to build his reputation as one of the Nigeria National League’s emerging attacking talents. His consistent performances have made him an increasingly important player for Gombe United as the club pursues its objectives for the season.
