Seasiders pip Sunshine Kings as Warriors, Grasshoppers lose again
Lagos Seasiders defeated Sunshine Kings 24-21 yesterday to enhance their chances of success at the ongoing second phase of the Ardova Handball Premier League holding in Lagos.
The two teams came out strong in the opening moments of the close encounter, but the Lagos team made better use of their chances, while the Akure side missed glaring scoring opportunities.
Having rested on Thursday after their walk-over victory against Confluence Stars, the Kings were tipped to do better in this game but they failed when it mattered most and paid with the loss to the Lagos team.
In other games played in the men’s category, Benue Buffaloes beat Adamawa Warriors 44-36. The Warriors had lost to Safety Shooters on Thursday and any hope of a decent result in the games faded as the Buffaloes dominated all through. Also, Rima Strikers walked over Confluence Stars to get maximum points without throwing a ball.
In the women’s category, leaders, Safety Babes, made it three wins im three games by beating Imo Grasshopper 43-24 yesterday.
Also, Rima Queens beat Delta Queens 31-26, while COAS Babes lost to Defender Babes 35-30 as the competition continues today.
