Supporters Club boss storms Awka for ‘Sip & Reason’ campaign

National Chairman of Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Samuel Ikpea, will on December 19, 2025, lead a delegation of the club to Awka, Anambra State, to witness the “Sip & Reason” campaign being put together by that state’s chapter of the club.
 
The campaign is being organised to remind governments at all levels, corporate sponsors, sports philanthropists, and all lovers of football in Anambra State, of the importance of building modern grassroots football infrastructure and support systems for early discovery of football talents, proper grooming, motivations, and guiding of such talents through all stages of development till international stardom.
 
Speaking at the event, chairman of Anambra State chapter of the club, Izuchukwu Udegbunam, who also doubles as Chief Executive Officer of Bunubunu Culture and Sporting Company Limited, explained that the event, which is slated for Royal Swiss Palace, Nodu-Okpuno, Awka, is expected to attract all lovers of football, including all past and present football heroes in the state and beyond.
 
He listed some of the legends and important personalities that will be part of the programme to include former Green Eagles goalkeeper and living legend, Emmanuel Okala, who will be the father of the day, while a former Super Eagles defender and Chairman of Anambra State Football Association, Chikelue Iloenyosi, will serve as chairman of the occasion.
 
Others are chairman of the Anambra State Sports Development Commission, Patrick Onyedum (Special Guest of Honour) and Chibuzor Ekwenye, who is the chief host and convener.
 
Udegbunam appealed to all Nigerians to join hands with the Nigeria Football Supporters Club in its plan for the country to win the FIFA World Cup in the near future through reviving grassroots football programmes using primary, secondary and tertiary institutions, traders’ football championships, communal football championships and street football competitions.
