Team Lagos hits Edo Sports Festival with 297 athletes, 185 officials
Team Lagos yesterday departed for the 20th National Sports Festival in Benin City, Edo State, which holds between April 2 and 12, after suffering several postponements.
The Lagos contingent, which comprises 297 athletes and 185 officials, will compete in 30 events at the festival. The team was charged to be good ambassadors of the state while in Edo for the Nigerian version of the Olympic Games.
“We want you to compete clean and be good representatives of our dear state,” said Mr. Oluwatoyin Gafaar, Director-General, Lagos State Sports Commission.
“Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu made the preparation for the festival easy for us by providing an enabling environment, and I want to charge you to go out there and do your best to the glory of Lagos State,” he said.
