Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) junior tennis sensation, Godgift Timibra, who is unseeded at the on-going CBN Senior Tournament, yesterday defeated number nine seed, Ikechukwu Iloputa 6-4, 6-4, to book a quarterfinal ticket in the competition, just as six times champion, Abdulmumuni Babalola beat Jebutu Emmanuel 6-1, 6-1 to also make the last eight.

In another classy game, Nonso Madueke defeated Leo Anthony 6-1, 6-0, while Christian Paul beat Adewale Samson 6-1, 6-3 to advance.
Tournament’s top seed, Sylvester Emmanuel dropped Tochukwu Eze 6-4, 6-2, as men’s singles number two seed, Joseph Imeh stopped John Henry 6-3, 6-3.

In the women’s category, Oyinlomo Quadre, Bukola Olowu, top seed, Blessing Samuel, Blessing Anuna and seed two, Christy Agugbom have also moved to the next stage of the competition.

All doubles events were postponed due to the heavy rain that disrupted activities in the early hours of the day.The absence of the women singles defending champion, Sarah Adegoke has thrown the title open as a new champion must emerge this year.
