PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has congratulated players of Nigerian descent who featured for the Seattle Seahawks following the team’s victory at Super Bowl 60 held at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Sunday.
The Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots 29–13 to secure their second Lombardi Trophy in a commanding performance that drew global attention.
Among the players of Nigerian heritage on the Seahawks roster are quarterback Jalen Oluwaseun Milroe, defensive standout Nick Emmanwori, veteran linebacker Uchenna Nwosu, linebacker Boye Maye, and offensive lineman Olu Oluwatimi, all of whom played key roles in the championship run.
The President also extended congratulations to Michael Onwenu of the New England Patriots, describing him as one of the league’s most dominant offensive linemen despite finishing on the losing side.
Tinubu commended the athletes for bringing pride and honour to their country of ancestry, noting in particular the gesture by Emmanwori, Nwosu and Maye, who hoisted the Nigerian flag in celebration after the victory.
According to the President, the players’ achievements reinforce Nigeria’s global reputation for excellence, resilience and talent across diverse fields.
He wished them continued success and greater accomplishments in their professional careers.
