Renowned FIFA-licensed football agent, Dr Drew Uyi, has congratulated the Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Desmond Amadin Enabulele, following Edo State’s emergence as overall champions at the 2nd Niger Delta Games.
Describing the achievement as “a golden moment in the state’s sporting history,” Uyi praised Team Edo’s outstanding display of discipline, resilience, technical superiority, and winning spirit throughout the competition.
“Team Edo’s performance at the 2nd Niger Delta Games was nothing short of spectacular. The athletes demonstrated excellence, determination, and true sportsmanship. Their dominance across multiple events reflects the depth of talent in the state and the effectiveness of the structures put in place to nurture them,” he said.
Uyi specifically commended Enabulele’s leadership, citing strategic planning, focused preparation, and sustained investment in athlete development as key factors behind the success.
“This victory is a clear testament to the visionary leadership of the Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission. His commitment to grassroots development, athlete welfare, and high-performance standards has yielded remarkable results,” he noted.
He also attributed the triumph to the unwavering support of the Executive Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, applauding the administration’s dedication to sports development and youth empowerment.
“Under Governor Okpebholo’s leadership, Edo State has continued to prioritise sports as a vital tool for youth engagement, unity, and socio-economic development. Investments in sports infrastructure, talent discovery, and capacity building have laid the foundation for this achievement,” Uyi added.
According to him, the synergy between the state government and the Sports Commission has further strengthened Edo’s reputation as a powerhouse in Nigerian sports.
Uyi encouraged the athletes to remain focused and continue striving for excellence in future competitions, assuring them of sustained support from stakeholders and well-meaning Edo citizens.
The international brand expert further described the victory as particularly gratifying, noting that it came 24 years after Edo State last won a national or regional multi-sport competition.
He expressed confidence that the state would build on the success of the Niger Delta Games and continue to set the pace in regional and national sporting events.
