Warri Wolves plot Abia Comet’s fall as NNL resumes
After enjoying the Christmas and New Year break, the Nigeria National League (NNL) will resume this weekend with a cracker between Abia Comets and visiting Warri Wolves in Umuahia.
Warri Wolves and Abia Comet have seven points in Conference A at the break. The Sea Siders, as Warri Wolves are called, defeated Crown FC of Ogbomoso 2-0 at Sapele Stadium and shared points with Dakkada FC in Uyo in their second match, which ended 1-1.
Wolves relocated to a new ground at Ozoro following complaints of bad pitch at Sapele stadium, and won their third match 1-0 against visiting Igbajo United of Osun.
In Conference B, debutants Kun-Khalifat FC of Owerri recorded three wins in the three games played so far to stay on top with nine points, just as Wikki Tourists of Bauchi are in front in Conference C with seven points. Basira FC of Lafia, Nasarawa State are in front of others in Conference D.
General Manager of Warri Wolves FC, Neville Ambakaderemo told The Guardian yesterday that the team is putting everything into their preparation for the trip to Umuahia on Sunday.
“Our players are well motivated, and I am sure we will get a better result against Abia Comet in Umuahia,” he said. The Seasiders are led by coach Napoleon Aluma, who is regarded as one of the most experienced coaches in Nigeria football. The 2024/2025 season kicked off November 30, 2024 in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State and went on break for the Christmas and New Year.
