About 1, 200 children bagged awards for good values in the maiden edition of Ribena Good Values Awards.

Held in Lagos, the event, an intra-school programme was aimed at entrenching good values and healthy living among young people in schools across the country.

Two pupils each were selected from over 600 schools in Lagos and were rewarded for good values and exemplary character they imbibed from the Ribena Bridges To Goodness School Project. With this, they became worthy ambassadors of Ribena Good Values and Character Programme.

The project is to inspire children to imbibe values that would make them better individuals and citizens.

Managing Director, Suntory Beverage and Food Nigeria Ltd., Mr. Chinedum Okereke, said: “The future of any nation lies on the children, so, whatever legacy we pass on, whether good or bad could make or mar us as a nation. We, therefore, must rise to our responsibility as parents, guardians, schools and government, to ensure that good values and characters are inculcated in these young ones from a tender age.

“In many instances, rewards and prizes are handed out for excellent performance in academics and sports, with little recognition for good values and character,” he noted.

The exciting event featured brilliant performances from Deechords Academy and Xplicit Dancers.

The company’s Marketing Director, Mrs. Rosemary Akpo, expressing delight at the success of the event, said the initiative would go a long way in moulding leaders for tomorrow.
