The Students’ Union Government (SUG), President of Adeyemi College of Education, ACE, Ondo, and the chairman of Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Richard Ogunrotifa, have called on the Federal Government to restore ACE status as a university.

Ogunrotifa said this at the 2nd inaugural lecture of the school, in line with the declaration made by the Provost of the college, Prof. Olukoya Ogen that ACE has the wherewithal to be upgraded a university.

“We appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari to readdress the status of our institution that is put on hold due to the defects associated to the upgrading by the previous administration,” he said.

Earlier, Ogen, while declaring open the inaugural lecture titled: “Historicizing Ethnic Conflict in Nigeria,” disclosed that ACE has been called to defend its clamour for university status by the Federal Government, adding that the school has all the prerequisites to reclaim its university status, which according to him was put on hold last year August.

He said next week, the school’s delegate would be in Abuja to defend the restoration of ACE to a university.
