Attitude for rest – Part 2
ALL these were aimed at hindering Moses from reaching his altitude. Jesus was accused of being wicked, a cheat who wanted to reap where he had not sown.
His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: Matthew 25:26
Even Mary and Martha indirectly accused Jesus of killing their brother Lazarus because He delayed.
Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. Then when Mary came where Jesus was and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. John 11:21,32
But this did not deter Jesus from doing what He had to do concerning Lazarus.
Mr. Job faced a lot of accusations from his friends, which could have affected his attitude or disposition towards God and man. Can you imagine the behaviour of Job’s friend?
And when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and knew him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his mantle, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven.
So they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spake a word unto him: for they saw that his grief was very great. Job 2:12-13. It was so bad that his wife advised him to curse God and die.
Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? Curse God, and die. Job 2:9. But Job maintained his right attitude and integrity.
But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips. Job 2:10
With all that Joseph went through, he maintained the right attitude, no wonder they all got to the zenith of their purpose in life.
Child of God, if you would enjoy rest and peace of mind, maintain the right attitude. There will be enough reasons or actions to do otherwise, but fight for this and God will give you peace.
Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun. Ecclesiastes 9: 6.
Learn not to react or respond to everything: let God be your anchor.
For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength….. Isaiah 30:15
