Many residents of Olojede and Saibu streets in Oriade Local Council Development Area (LCDA) were excited when they had that there roads would be reconstructed. That excitement tempo increased when the contractors moved to site, though at different times. It was gathered that the contractor, Masod Construction Limited, for the reconstruction of Olojede Street moved to site first. It was learnt that the contractor reconstructed the road drainage, re-graded the road that resulted in taking off spots on the road that still has tarred sections. After doing that, it was also said that the contractor poured powdered granite stones across the road in preparation for inter-locking of the road.

Some of the residents said after the contractor poured the powered granite stones on the road, they were expecting that the contractor will begin to put interlock on the road and the road will be completed. But that has not been for over two months now.

However, it was gathered that while the residents of Olojede were still expecting the contractor handling their road to return to site to complete the project, the contractor for the construction of Saibu Street moved to site.

The contractor, Metricsilo Contractors Company Limited, also cleared the road in preparation for its reconstruction. The contractor with support from LCDA marked all the kiosk and shades built on the drainages across the road. It was learn that two days after a caterpillar moved into the street, re-grading the road, and moving away debris. Thereafter, the contractor it was said brought in sand and granite in preparing for inter-locking the road and it started on a Saturday, continued work on Monday and Tuesday and after then disappeared. Residents for over two weeks now, the contractor has not been seen,

They also stated that the section of the road that had been inter-locked was barricaded from vehicular movement inflicting pains on residents with vehicles who were made to park their vehicles away from their residential buildings and constantly under the fear of the vehicles being burgled at late-night and midnight where they are parked.

A message was sent to the Chairman of Oriade LCDA, Mr. Rasaq Akoreder Olojede, on if he was aware that the contractors have left sites and why. He was yet to respond the questions as at press time.
