Peaceway Baptist Church, Ikotun Lagos, the Citadel of Peace and Love, recently marked the 2019 age group programmes with fanfare at her church auditorium in Audu Street, off Governor Road, Ikotun, Lagos. The age group programmes, Mothers’ Day, Children’s Sunday, Youth Week and Fathers’ Day, are celebrated annually all over Baptist Churches under the Nigeria Baptist Convention and worldwide.

This year’s Mothers’ Day, with the theme: “Available Mother,” was marked along with the centenary anniversary of the Women Missionary Union (WMU) of Nigeria Baptist Convention. The church’s WMU leader, Mrs. Abosede Adelaja, led the women in appreciating God and honouring some women in the church, including Mrs. Temilade Ogundare, the church Pastor’s wife.

On Sunday, 26th May 2019, the Children’s Day was marked with inspiring music, Bible recitation and drama by children and teenagers. Gifts from parents and other church members were presented to outstanding children through their coordinators, Mrs. Bamidele Dahunsi and Mr Gbemiga Adegboye.

The youths took turn with the Youth Week programmes, which were gloriously celebrated with the theme: “The Fullness of Christ” (Ephesians 4:13). The Youth Sunday, 2nd June 2019, commenced the week, when the Church Pastor, Abimbola Ogundare, temporarily handed over the symbolic key (the church leadership) to the Youth Leader, Brother Iyiola Fafore and the Youth Pastor, Sister Funmi Adeyemo. The week-long programme featured Bible teachings and studies, Health Talk, Prayer Meeting and was rounded off with the Praise and Drama Night,

Dr. Oladayo Adebanwi, the church’s Chairman of Men Missionary Union (MMU), led in celebrating all young and old fathers in the church to mark the Fathers’ Day with the theme: “The Absent Father.” It was a glorious service, where the Church Drama Unit ministered and outstanding fathers were honoured.

In each of the programmes, the church’s under-shepherd, Pastor Abimbola Ogundare, preached soul inspiring sermon. Using biblical passages Ephesians 4:13, 1 Corinthians 11: 1`4 – 15, Pastor Ogundare variously challenged the congregation to put God first in all life’s actions, shun the devil, and be responsible parents and children always. Pastor Ogundare was also appreciated by the church MMU for his remarkable leadership role.
