“And the king said to me, (the queen also sitting by him,) For how long shall your journey be? And when will you return? So it pleased the king to send me, and I set him a time” (Nehemiah 2:6).

The question put before us is “How long shall our journey be on earth”? If the Lord preserves your life, you may live for 80 to 100 years or more, but there’s a set time you must return home. Your time expires the day you give up the ghost. Whether you have done well or not, your work will follow you. People may praise you in death or pray for you, that doesn’t count anymore, but what counts is your work on earth. You must give an account before the creator of all, on how you have lived.

During this period, your good deeds and accomplishments in Christ matter. The end would be highly disastrous for those who have wasted their years on earth, displeasing God. Whether you are rich or poor you will be called home one day, but doing the will of God while on earth is the most profitable thing. If things are going well for you or not, always remember to ask yourself, “how long shall my journey be”? Am I preparing for home?” A day of reckoning is coming when you will be scrutinised over your sojourn. You will be rewarded according to what you have done, whether good or bad. Are you faithful to God in all areas of life? It pleased God to send you to planet earth for a purpose. When you were born, people rejoiced and jubilated, but a day comes when the curtain is drawn. At that moment, you have to leave, either you like it or not. You need to meditate on how your race on planet earth will end. Think deeply, and ask yourself, am I really serving God? Due to previous restrictions on church services, the love of many for Christ has waxed cold and some people have jettisoned the house of God, where the hope of eternal life is being obtained. “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable” (1Corithians 15:19). We must deny the work of the flesh to have eternal life, with Jesus Christ. We need to be steadfast and punctual in the house of God. A great city has been provided for the redeemers who have really served God. Your time will be up one day. If you die in sin you are liable to spend eternity with the devil in hell. In your lifetime, use your power, position, and resources for God. Don’t be an antagonist of the gospel. Those who are against the Church of Christ are bound to experience God’s vengeance.

During the earthly ministry of Christ, He gave us assurance in John 14:1-3, that He has provided a place for us after our journey on earth. A place for the saints, those who served God in faithfulness, holiness, and purity, not for the adulterers, fornicators, murderers, drunkards, liars, idolaters, witches, and wizards. The beauty of this earth can’t be compared to the glorious city we are heading to. The devil is working day and night to make sure we don’t have a good ending, but let’s hold on to God, and the Holy Spirit will guide us. This message is for those preparing for home. We are in a polluted world, where there’s so much anxiety to achieve success. All you have shall be left behind on the day you will return. Then you start another journey to the region beyond. “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed” (Roman 13:11). If you are a Christian and slumbering on this glorious road, awake, before it’s too late. Do you still have the inspiration you had when you first received Christ? You may not experience death, but what if rapture takes place now, are you worthy to make heaven? Are you perfect in doing God’s will? We are already experiencing the signs of the end time and we need to adjust and prepare for rapture. The coming of our Lord is imminent.
