God always searches out individuals, in every generation, who will lead His people. He usually commits His blessings and uses such a person to enforce His will on earth. To become one of such, you need to possess a different spirit and a special heart.

Looking through the Bible, there is something about each of these people God used that made them stand out: their heart. But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” 1 Sam 16:7

Also in Jeremiah 17:10, he said, “I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give to each man according to his ways, According to the results of his deeds.

Though these people were not perfect, but they were available and obedient to God. Your ability to surrender completely to God for His use will determine the level of His blessing and favour you will enjoy.

Godly leaders are vital in every sphere of human life, because of their influence in the lives of those they lead. In order t2o fulfil God’s promise to bring His people out of slavery, Moses was called and commissioned. The people of God eventually came out of the 430 years of slavery under Moses’ leadership. However, Moses died in the wilderness, while he was still leading the people of God through the wilderness. Meanwhile, they were heading towards the Promised Land, so the need for another leader.

God never lacks right people for His purpose at any time, the kind of leadership required was found in Joshua, new job consisted of leading more than two million people into a strange new land and conquering it. What a challenge! Every new job is a challenge. Without God, it can be frightening. With God, it can be a great adventure. Just as God was with Joshua, he is with us, as we face our new challenges.

Both Moses and Joshua performed excellently in leading the Israelites. They encountered numerous challenges, but with God on their side, they fought kings and conquered territories. Reading through the book of Joshua 11:16-23 and 12:1-24, there is a catalogue of the kings on the east of Jordan, which were conquered by MOSES, with their territories. A list of those on the west side of Jordan conquered by JOSHUA, in number thirty-one.

We may not conquer nations, but every day, we face tough situations, difficult people, and temptations. Still, God promises that He will never abandon us or fail to help us. By asking God to direct us, we can conquer many of life’s challenges.
