1:2 “in his law he meditates day and night.” Those seeking to live under God’s blessing meditate on God’s law (that is His word) in order to know God by revelation and to shape their thinking, attitudes and actions. They read the words of scripture, ponder over them and compare them with other scriptures. When meditating on a passage in the Bible, questions such as these cross their minds:

Is God’s spirit applying this verse to my life and personal situation?

Is there a promise here for me to claim?

Is this passage revealing a particular sin I must strive to avoid?

Is God issuing a command I must obey?

Is my spirit in harmony with what the Holy spirit is saying?

Is the passage expressing a truth about God, salvation, sin, the world or my personal obedience on which I need?

Does “law of the Lord” mean all of Scripture: The more we know of the whole scope of God’s word, the more resources we will have to guide us in our daily decisions.

Read Psalm 119:97-104

“Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day,” (Ps 119:97).

(5.3) Adoration makes us to consciously resist worldly passions that defile our body— the temple of God; where God resides.

Glorify God in Body and Spirit (1Cor 6:12-20)
“Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 19: Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20: For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s,” (1 Cor 6:18-20).

“Flee sexual immorality.” Sexual immorality is particularly abhorrent to God. More than any other sinful act, it desecrates the body, which is the temple of the Spirit (vv.15-20). Therefore, Paul gives the admonition to flee from sexual immorality. The use of the present tense here indicates that Christians must repeatedly “flee” sexual immorality by saying “No” to all ungodliness and worldly passions and by living “soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world,” (Tit 2:12).

“Your body is the temple of the Holy spirit.” As a Christian, your body is the personal dwelling place of the Holy spirit (see also Rom 8:11, where the Spirit is God’s mark upon you that you belong to Him). Because the Spirit lives in you and you belong to God, your body must never be defiled by any impurity or evil, whether by immoral thoughts, desires, deeds, films, books, magazines or the Internet. Rather, you must live in such a way as to honour and please God with your body (v.20).
