“And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Does not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?…And he said unto Jesus, Lord remember me when thou comest into thy Kingdom And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, today shalt thou be with me in Paradise.” (Luke 23:39-43).

In Luke 23, we see two malefactors facing crucifixion, one on the left and the other on the right hand of Jesus. These reveal two different personalities, two mindsets, two systems and two different schools of thought. One was saying things as he felt and saw them, full of condemnation, bitterness, hatred and negativity. The other was full of praises, seeing beyond the physical circumstances facing him. He still saw a way out, even at the point of death. He was positive. Jesus Christ, Who is God accepted and embraced the cry of the man with the positive mindset and condemned the man with the negative mindset. God has not changed. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He still receives the cry of positive mindset people and condemns the negative minded. “But without faith IT IS IMPOSSIBLE to please Him…” (Heb.11: 6). From the foregoing, it is obvious that it is impossible for Heaven to hear and receive the request of an individual with a negative mindset.
Be Vigilant: Cancel Negative Statements And Replace Them With Positive Ones

This is what this malefactor did. He rebuked the other thief sternly. He cancelled out his words and began to replace them with words of hope: “Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy Kingdom.” He did this immediately the words were uttered by his colleague. This is important, because words are the most powerful things in the universe. Your words are containers; they contain life or death. Jesus said, “the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit…”(John 6:31). Words have spiritual consequences. They activate the spirit realm. The moment you release negative words, evil spirits are activated to endorse them. On the other hand, positive words release angels of God.

After Elijah had killed the 450 prophets of Baal, Jezebel sent him a message: “Then Jezebel sent a message unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time.” (1 Kings 19:2).

Words were released into the atmosphere. She said: “if I do not kill you by this time tomorrow may the gods kill me.” That was a good opportunity for Elijah to endorse her death. He could have said, “according to your word, by this time tomorrow I shall live but you shall be the one to die.” But he said nothing. As a result, those words spoken by Jezebel took root. The Bible says: “every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment THOU SHALT CONDEMN.” (Isaiah 54:17). If you do not condemn them, they will take effect. It did not take long for fear to grip Elijah. He now ran for his life into the wilderness. Spirits of discouragement, death and suicide began working on him. (1 Kings 19:4)

Even after being visited by God’s angel, he could not pull out of his suicidal tendencies. He still requested death. Do not wait for negative words spoken either by yourself or by others to take root. Cancel them. Nullify them immediately and replace them with positive words, even if spoken by small children around you. Be very sensitive as to what is being released into the atmosphere around you. As an intercessor and a watchman over your city, be watchful over words being released through the local media, T.V, radio, newspaper and other outlets. Arrest and kill every negative voice or they will take effect. Witches, wizards and Satanists understand this and are constantly raising satanic altars, releasing negative words over cities and nations, programming their own satanic agenda into the atmosphere. You need also to be constantly cancelling their agenda and replacing their words. (Isa. 51:16).

When David was facing Goliath, Goliath came against him first and foremost with a volume of words. For forty days, he released words into the atmosphere, defying and frightening the entire army of Israel. The words took root and the result was! (1 Sam.17: 11).

This was so because nobody stood up to nullify them, until the day David visited his brethren on the battlefront. (1 Sam.17: 23-26). The moment David heard those negative words bellowing out of the mouth of Goliath; he was incensed and began to nullify them instantly (1 Sam. 17:32).

Then Saul also opened his negative mindset mouth and began to explain how impossible the task ahead of him was. (1 Sam.17: 34-36). Rev. Theodore Effiong
