“And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.”

Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Ojo

“And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.”

The disciples of Jesus were on a journey with Him. The beginning of the journey was pleasant and some of them enjoyed the cool of the day. Suddenly, an unexpected incident happened that created fear in the life of Disciples. “And there arose a great storm of wind…” (v37) The storm was unusual, as it was known to be a great one. Your journey with Jesus Christ is not without any challenge. Despite that Jesus was in the ship, the great storm arose. To be a man or woman of God does not exempt you from facing life problems. As a believer, you are facing with un expected troubles in your marriage, business or career, it comes like a great storm trying to overwhelm you. Remember what the scripture says;

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1) Psalmist opens our eyes to know that there will be a trouble that will look like a great storm, but before the trouble comes, God has made the place of refuge for us. He knows that as a result of the storm, believer shall become weak. But he has made His strength available for us, therefore, you don’t need to give up.

Don’t give up but call Jesus Christ, the all-knowing God into that great storm. “…Master, carest thou not that we perish…” (v38b) God is not careless about our lives, but is always mindful that we recognise His existence. Maybe you think God is sleeping and not aware of your predicament, which is why you want to give up. Beloved, He is the all-knowing God. Don’t be carried away by the storm but call His attention to your situation.

If you don’t give up at the rage of great storm, definitely, you will see the mighty hand of God in demonstration. First, Jesus will arise to your situation if you don’t give up. Second, He will rebuke the wind that arose against your marriage, business and health. This week, you shall experience the Hand of God over every wind affecting your life journey in Jesus name. But I repeat again, don’t give up. At the word of Jesus, the Bible confirms it that “…And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” Great storm may arise today, but at the spoken word of Jesus, there will be a great calm. Shalom.
