• His Tenure As NBC President Ends On June 1, 2021
The President of Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC), Dr. Samson Ayokunle has reminded Christians that they are in a race and should be very careful with their Christian life. He said the day they give their lives to Christ the race for eternity begins and as such, they should walk according to rule of the game so as to receive recommendation from the Master.

Ayokunle, who spoke in Lagos, said: “We call Christians’ attention to the fact that the moment they gave their lives to Christ they started the race. It is not when you occupy an office that you are in a race. It is the day you gave your life to Christ that the race to eternity begins. And if care is not taken, you may miss it. You have to walk according to the rule of the game everyday to receive the prize. We need to continue moving forward in our knowledge of Him, study the scriptures, operate in power of the Holy Spirit and avoid everything that can defile you until we see Jesus face to face.”

He disclosed that his tenure as NBC president would formally end on June 1, 2021, when the new NBC president is expected to take over from him. He refused to divulge the name of his successor, but The Guardian gathered through a reliable source that one Rev. (Dr.) Israel Akanji of the Abuja Church would take over the mantle of leadership from him.

Ayokunle, who doubles as president of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) enumerated some of his achievements while in office and said he would be remembered for doing his best to reposition the Nigerian Baptist Convention after 10 years of service. He thanked all Baptist members for their cooperation during his tenure.
