Greatness in your smallness

Matthew 2: 5-6 “And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, and thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not THE LEAST AMONG THE PRINCES of Juda: for OUT OF THEE SHALL come a GOVERNOR that shall RULE my people Israel.”
It is amazing how great things of life always start small. The entire human race started with just one family. Great things are birthed with small ideas. We are commanded in God’s Word never to despise the days of small beginnings, because small things do not ever remain small, when they are planted in God’s hands. Job 8:7 “THOUGH THY BEGINNING WAS SMALL, yet thy latter end should GREATLY INCREASE”.

Because of the Omnipotence of our God, Jehovah God does and accomplishes great things, using small and insignificant things. God accomplishes MUCH with LITTLE, but we humans always want to accomplish little with much. God told Gideon to reduce the proposed 30,000 Army to mere 300. And with God on their side, they defeated the huge host of the Midianites. Judges 7:9 “And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Arise, get thee down unto the host; for I have delivered it into thine hand.” Jonathan also, with his Armour bearer, defeated the garrison of the Philistines. There is no restraint with God, even when there is little.

1 Samuel 14: 6-7 “And Jonathan said to the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised: it may be that the LORD will work for us: FOR THERE IS NO RESTRAINT TO THE LORD TO SAVE BY MANY OR BY FEW.” All through Biblical history, God always employed the little to accomplish so much. Asa the king of Israel was faced with 1, 000, 000 formidable Soldiers in battle. He had only 300, 000 yet with God’s help, he conquered and defeated One Million strong Army. 2 Chronicles 14: 11-12 “And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, IT IS NOTHING WITH THEE TO HELP, whether WITH MANY, OR WITH THEM THAT HAVE NO POWER: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on Thee, and in Thy Name we go against this multitude.

O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee; so the LORD smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled”. GOD’S CHECKLIST OF DOING GREAT THINGS WITH LITTLE. Moses had AN INSIGNIFICANT ROD that became the rod of God through which signs and wonders were performed in Egypt. The Red Sea Parted and many miracles were wrought with the Rod of God in the hands of Moses. Exodus 4:17 & 20 “And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs; and Moses took the rod of God in his hand”. With the jawbone of an Ass, Samson slew One Thousand Soldiers.

Judges 15: 15-16 “And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and SLEW A THOUSAND MEN therewith; and Samson said, with the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men.” The widow of Zarephath only had a barrel and a little oil in a cruse yet she was well sustained throughout the period of famine and recession. (1Kings 17:12-16).

Also the widow, who was in huge debt, only had a cruse of oil in her house – and that became the raw material that was multiplied to bring her out of debt. 2 Kings 4: 4-6 “So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out; And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, there is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed”. JESUS CHRIST our LORD only had five loaves and two fishes to feed thousands of people yet the crowd of people were over-fed.

John 6:13 “Therefore, they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.” It has always been God’s style to show forth His Power through what human beings classify as small, insignificant or intangible. Today, spend time to praise God for small and little things in your life. Like JESUS, little things will be multiplied through thanksgiving to meet your needs.

PRAYER: Father God, I thank You for the little, little, small and small things that you gave to me. I do not commonise them. I thank You for these blessings. There is Greatness in my small things.
