According to our Bible passage in Mark 5:25-30, on a faithful day, Jesus was on His way to the house of Jairus, one of the rulers of the synagogue with a crowd of people following Him. Among this crowd were four groups of people with different purposes. There were those who followed Him because of His impact in their lives. Such as healing, deliverance, mentorship, etc. Among these particular group of people were His disciples.

The second group of persons are those who were looking for ways to entrap Him or find error in what He was doing or what He would say. Most of them in these groups were His haters such as the Sadducees and the Pharisees. The third group of persons in the crowd were the spectators. Just like in a football pitch, they are only 22 players on the field of play; the others in the stadium are either officials or spectators.

Fourthly, the last group of persons are those expectant and they include the sick, who were expecting healing from Jesus, the hungry, the dejected, the oppressed, etc. Just as you have these mixed multitudes following Jesus, so it is in the church today. You need to ask yourself a question, “am I a spectator or an expectant?” Am I a hater, looking for a flaw from what the pastor will say or do? Or am I a disciple? Among these crowds of people, there was a woman with an issue of blood for 12 years.

The Bible recorded that she had spent all her money on many physicians yet there was no solution until she touched the hem of Jesus’ garment and was made whole. According to the laws in Leviticus 15:25-27, anybody she touches will become unclean and anybody that touches her will be unclean. Because of her situation, people avoided her like a plague, she was rejected and stigmatized for 12 years. She was not just in pain because of the constant bleeding but she was going through emotional torment because of the rejection caused by the problem. As you read this message the question is: are you going through physical or emotional pain because of one rejection or disappointment? Or could it be that you are physically sick? I have good news for you, cheer up, you are the reason Jesus came (Isaiah 61:1-3). The issue of blood for 12 years in her life gave birth to multiple problems such as poverty. The Bible said she spent everything she had on the sickness yet there was no solution. The sickness was a devourer in her life.

I remember one of my daughters in the Lord that spent all her money on drugs. The doctors diagnosed heart enlargement and high blood pressure. She had been on drugs for 15 years, until she had no more money to buy drugs. Her health had already deteriorated before she met us. After I prayed and laid hands on her, she was healed. That was how the problem of 15 years came to an end. Jesus is the Sun of righteousness. According to Jewish custom, the rabbi will wear a free flowing gown called “tallit,” in Deut. 22:12, Numbers 15:38-41. This gown worn by the rabbi has a tassel of twisted wool.

One was required at each of the four corners of the outer garment. The Pharisees considered tassels as a special mark of sanctity and sought to enlarge them. (Matt. 23:5). One thread of each tassel was to be deep blue to remind them of their duty to keep the law. When she saw Jesus, she knew that this is the Messiah she quickly, despite the crowd, break through to touch the hem of His garment. She acted upon her faith and it worked. The pull of her faith was strong enough to attract the sensitive spirit of Jesus. And the virtue in Him flowed into her to bring about her healing. Immediately, she was healed.
