‘I am that I am – My helper’

What oxygen is to human existence, that is what Divine Help is to a person’s life and destiny. Without it, life becomes a cycle of frustration, stagnation, and unfulfilled purpose. But with it, even the most hopeless situations can experience supernatural turnaround.

From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible shows that no one truly advances in life without Divine Help. In Genesis 2:18, God acknowledged that man needed help, even in a perfect environment like Eden. In Genesis 49:25, Jacob, in blessing Joseph, attributed his success to the help that comes from “the Almighty.” Psalm 54:4 declares, “Behold, God is mine helper.” Divine Help is not just an option, it is a necessity.

What Is Divine Help?
Divine Help is the intervention of God in the affairs of men. It is when God uses His resources, wisdom, and power to make things easier or possible for us. In Matthew 14:24–28, Peter walked on water not because of skill, but because Divine Help was present. When Joseph was summoned from prison in Genesis 41:14, it was Divine Help that elevated him to the palace. Whether it’s improving a situation (Luke 13:11–13) or enabling great exploits (2 Samuel 23:8-9), Divine Help is the game-changer.

Why Do We Need Divine Help?
Life comes with its battles, burdens, and uncertainties. Divine Help is the force that makes the difference. It terminates shame (Isaiah 50:7), releases grace for righteous living (Isaiah 41:10), and ensures continuity in our spiritual journey (Acts 26:22). It empowers our prayer life (Romans 8:26), brings protection (Psalm 121:1–8), and delivers us from the forces of wickedness (Exodus 18:4). From battles to blessings, Divine Help is the secret of true victory (1 Samuel 7:7–12).

How Can We Access Divine Help?
1. Acknowledge your inability to help yourself – As Psalm 108:12 says, “Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.”
2. Pray strategically – Hebrews 4:16 urges us to come boldly to the throne of grace.
3. Help others – According to Ephesians 6:8, what you make happen for others, God will make happen for you.
4. Be grateful – Like the one leper in Luke 17:11–19, returning to give thanks provokes more help.
5. Cry for mercy – Blind Bartimaeus in Mark 10:46–52 received help through a cry for mercy.
6. Obey promptly, Obedience unlocks divine intervention (Psalm 81:13–14).
7. Maintain rugged faith, Faith is a magnet for Divine Help (Hebrews 11:6).

Final Thought.
No matter how difficult or hopeless things may look, Divine Help can turn your story around (John 11:38–44). But it is vital to look to God alone. Depending on man or alternative sources, as seen in 2 Kings 1:1–4, only delays or aborts Divine intervention.
Let your heart be lifted today: “God is your Helper.” When He helps you, no opposition can stop you. Jesus is Lord!
