I know your works – Part 3

Text: Revelation 2:1-19; 3:1-15

Key Verse: Revelation 2:19, “I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.” (KJV)

God is omniscient and nothing is concealed from His sight, as everything is open and exposed before Him. Everything you do lay bare before the eyes of God and cannot be covered before Him. No matter what you do or where you go, you will never be beyond God’s sight. There is nothing God is unaware of and when you sin, He knows about it.

It will appear from the observation that many people have forgotten the nature of the God we serve. We forget His nature and attributes, we reduce God to man and reduce Him down to our level and that is extremely unfortunate. You should not bring God down to your level.

God’s omniscience is that He knows where you are at every point in time, whatever time of the day, morning, noon, and night – God knows. God is the righteous Judge, He is Holy, He is sanctified and set apart from evil. He does not commit sin nor overlooks sin. God does not endure sin, He judges in righteousness. He calls all men to repent because He has appointed a day He will judge the world in righteousness (Acts 17:30).

In 1 Kings Chapter 21, Ahab wanted the vineyard that belonged to Naboth, but Naboth refused, not even for pay because it was an inheritance from his ancestors. Ahab went back to his house sad because of another man’s property. When his wife asked him why he was sad, he said that Naboth refused to give him his vineyard. Jezebel gave her husband advice on what to do and Ahab in collaboration with the wife Jezebel, hatched a plan to kill Naboth and take away his father’s inheritance from him. They planned a false church fasting and prayer wherein they got false witnesses to testify against Naboth saying, “Naboth has cursed both God and the king” (1 Kings 21:13). They took Naboth out from there and stoned him to death for plotting against the king. When they had executed their plan, Jezebel asked the husband to go and take over the vineyard.

Did God know when Ahab was planning Naboth’s death? Yes. Did God know when Jezebel the wicked queen conspired with her husband? Yes. Did God know when Jezebel called the elders together and gave them the marching order to organise false fasting and prayer? Yes. Did God know what type of fasting and prayer it would be? Yes. Did God know about the false witnesses? Yes. Did God know what they would say? Yes. Did He know what would be the outcome? Yes. You may ask what was God doing? He was looking to see what the people would do.

God came down in judgment against Ahab and Jezebel and pronounced judgment against them, even though it appeared He kept quiet. God spoke through Elijah to them saying, “I will wipe out your descendants and cut off from Ahab every last male in Israel. And also concerning Jezebel the Lord says: ‘Dogs will devour Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel” (1 Kings 21:22-23).

What is God seeing about you? Do you have any evil plan and evil desire in your heart? Maybe your evil plan has been working out as planned. Maybe step one, step two, step three, and even step four of your plan have all worked. But I warn you today to stop there and reverse from your evil plan.
