The yearly Supernatural Convention of the Kingsword Ministries International begins today at the church premises, Kingsword, The Charis Centre. Etal Avenue (Behind NNPC filling station/Etal Hotel), off Kudirat Abiola Way, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos at 8am. The convention, which coincides with the church’s 20th anniversary is tagged: “On Eagles Wings: No Ordinary Flight.”

The weeklong event, according to the Senior Resident Pastor of the church and Director of Operations in Africa, Pastor ’Tunde Akinyemi, will feature great men of God such as the founders, Kingsword Ministries International, Dr. Kay and Pastor May Ijisesan; Rhema Chapel Int’l Churches, Rev. George Adegboye; Global Harvest Churches, Rev. Victor Adeyemi; Word Ablaze Mission Int’l, Rev. Albert Femi Oduwole; Covenant Light Church, Pastor Nuel Manufor; Harvesters Int’l Christian Centre, Pastor Bolaji Idowu; and Global Impact Church, Pastor Yemi Davids, while the convention will be hosted by Pastors Oyinda and ’Tunde Akinyemi.

Fielding questions on insecurity, kidnapping and poverty, Pastor Akinyemi called on Christians irrespective of their denominations to make Nigeria great by contributing their own quota. The cleric, who believes that the challenges facing Nigeria are widespread, noted: “My own view of this is that every Nigerian should play his or her part. As a faith-based organisation we are definitely involved in solving Nigeria’s problems through the activities we carry out on daily basis through ministering the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to people, and by the grace of God many have been saved and those who are born again are encouraged to do the right thing.

There is a particular portion of the Bible that says, ‘Righteousness exalts a nation… ’ and I think that is how churches and faith-based organisations can help in solving Nigeria’s problems. As a church, we are involved in nation building, we are involved in youth empowerment…and another way churches can solve the nation’s challenges is through social initiatives. So, as a church, we are involved in feeding the poor and giving scholarship to indigent students. So, I believe if every one is involved in one thing or the other, we will all make Nigeria a better country.“

He also counseled couples having martial challenges to live in harmony with one another as well as run their marriages based on God’s word.

Guest artistes expected to grace the event include Tope Alabi; Pat Uwaje-King; Cobhams Asuquo; Infinity (Olori Oko); Detoun (Project Fame); Simpli Michael and Lara Ojo, among others.
