Matthew 6:13; Luke 11:4. In the Bible, we read of how the disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ approached Him to teach them how to pray.

Luke 11:1 “And it came to pass, that as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” If people understand the meaning of prayer, they will concentrate more on the Lord’s Prayer rather than the carnal prayers. One of the prayer points that our Lord taught His disciples is “Lead us not into temptation.” This is a prayer point everyone must pray daily.

When your inner man leads you into temptation, you are on your own; it means you belong to the devil. Before we continue with the message, let’s understand the meaning of temptation.

What is temptation? Temptation is the desire to have or do something, especially something wrong or unwise. In today’s world, every one knows what is right and what is wrong, especially, Nigerians but most times, we are led into evil desires, which results in falling into temptation.

The Kingmakers know what is right from wrong, but because of the desire to gain, they give kingship to unqualified people. The Police know the right thing to do, but because of what they want to gain, they call black white and white red. The Lawmakers in the House of Assembly also know the truth, but because of their strong desire to gain things; to be prosperous, they are led into temptation.

The worst are we Pastors that read the Bible. We have various versions of the Bible on our tables and have attended all sorts of seminars and theology schools. We know that holiness and righteousness are the virtues God cherishes most, but because of our desire to have more church members, the desire to be the most famous man of God on earth, the desire to be one of the richest pastors on earth and the desire to lend money to the banking industry have hindered us from telling people the truth. Hmmm… “Lead me not into temptation.” The Pharmacies, where drugs are being sold to Nigerians, know quite well that it’s not good to sell expired drugs, but because of gain, they sell these expired drugs to the citizens, in which many have developed terminal diseases. Hmmm… “Lead me not into temptation.” Evil desires will connect every part of your body to the devil. Organs in your body, such as the brain, heart, lungs, liver, kidneys and intestine will connect to the devil. This will grant the devil access to torment your life. This is what my people refer to as “Ogun Ota” meaning “War from the enemy.” Avoid temptation, so that the devil will not have access into your life. Because of this, you need Jesus to know what is right and wrong. May the good Lord deliver us from temptation that would hinder the devil, principalities, sickness and diseases access into our lives. The Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6 vs. 9-13): After this manner, therefore, pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. God bless you.
