The world is broken by sin. Sin is man’s greatest problem. Many people living in the world are neck deep into immorality, sexual perversion, corruption, addictions, wickedness and all manner of evil. The world is in dire need of a saviour and that is why Jesus came. Matthew 1:21 says: “And she will bring forth a son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
Christ came to deliver men out of misery and hopelessness. You are helpless and powerless without Christ. Christ gives freedom from sin and that was why He said in Matthew 11:29: “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”
No man has the power to deliver himself from living in wickedness, addiction, drunkenness, evil desires and worldliness except God.Jesus Christ is the light sent to the broken world to deliver men from the power of sin and its consequences. Sin has kept man in satanic bondage and control, but Christ came to deliver men from the captivity of sin. All of us were in sin; we were in bondage to sin. We could not free ourselves. But God sent Christ to deliver us. Christ emancipates us from sin. The most beautiful experience you can have on this side of eternity is freedom from sin that Christ gives. It is a wonderful experience everyone should have, but you can only have it when you willingly and voluntarily surrender your life to the Lord Jesus to be your Lord and Master. Then He will come into your life and perform the miracle of salvation in your heart and you will experience the new birth in Christ.
From the time man fell into sin, the world has been broken and continues to be broken. It describes the world as fallen, sinful and given over to the flesh. Galatians Chapter 5:19 gives us a list of the works of the flesh, which include sexual immorality, moral impurity, promiscuity, idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambitions, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing and anything similar. The results of sin lead to the brokenness of the world we see around us.
Sin is the problem. Sin is what leaves us in a broken world. Sin is what destroys marriages, relationships, families and societies. When we see brokenness all around us, it is as a result of people following the path of living for themselves without God. A broken world is the natural state of the world without God.
God’s solution for this brokenness is Jesus Christ. Our world is not beautiful, government policies, promises of good governance or better ideas have all failed and none of them could restore man to God. Instead, God offered only one hope for mankind and that is complete life transformation through salvation in Jesus Christ. You may be wondering what difference can that really make in a society or in a nation? You might be surprised to learn that it can make a greater difference than any of the human solutions promised by politicians today. In fact, a sociologist named Robert Woodberry spent a great deal of time studying the impact of Protestant Missions on communities around the world. He was able to study “empirical, long term, statistically significant evidence that Christianity increased the general wellbeing of surrounding populations.” You and your ideas and opinions are not the answer. Jesus is the answer! What are you waiting for?
Today’s nugget: Sin is man’s greatest problem.
