So far, we have considered the three principles you can apply to make your time count. The fourth principle is “understand your purpose.” Purpose is the reason for manufacturing a product. An understanding of your purpose can help you to prioritise your activities. Prioritise means knowing things that are more important and things that are less important.

So far, we have considered the three principles you can apply to make your time count. The fourth principle is “understand your purpose.” Purpose is the reason for manufacturing a product. An understanding of your purpose can help you to prioritise your activities. Prioritise means knowing things that are more important and things that are less important.

Prov. 15:22 tells us that we need knowledge to understand our purpose and this knowledge can come through counsel. The late Dr. Miles Munroe said, not knowing your purpose will lead to abuse of purpose. Every purpose is established by counsel, Prov. 20:18. Find out what your purpose in life is and don’t be easily moved or fooled around by false prophecies. Eccl. 8:6 says, to every purpose there is time and judgment. God does not judge a man just by what he did, but according to his purpose. This means that if God places a man in a group or church, for instance, to fulfill a specific assignment and he fails to do it then he will be judged even if he did something else where he was not assigned. Time is attached to your life and purpose, so you must use it wisely.

It is not enough to count how much you have done in life, but your major concern should be if you have done what you were created to do. A lot of people are busy today, yet diverted from their primary purpose. The case of Joshua is a typical example in the scripture. He achieved so much, but discovered suddenly in the thirteenth chapter that he was still very far from fulfilling his main purpose. Many people have died like this, on the wrong path to destiny. May God open your eyes and keep you on the right track in Jesus’ name.

Finally, be careful of how you live your life because the days are evil, Eph. 5:15-17. Avoid sinful and harmful decisions that can truncate God’s plans and purpose for your life. Don’t misuse or abuse God’s gift of time to you. Make the most of every opportunity, learn to live in the present and don’t waste your time worrying about the future or regretting the past. You only have each moment as it comes so enjoy the good things God has given you while you can. Seek the will of God in all things through the scriptures and the help of the Holy Spirit. Yield totally in your actions and decisions to God’s will.

Remember, there is life beyond the grave, but your time on earth is limited. You only have time for what God has called you to do here on earth, but ensure that in all your doings, invest in eternity.
