Martins urges Catholic faithful to pray for Nigeria

As Church Marks Anniversary Of Fatima Apparitions, Marian Year Celebration
The Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins has enjoined the faithful to continue to pray for the country, saying the nation is in need of healing spiritually, socially, politically and morally. He said the country has lost track of the path to truth and godliness, thereby toeing that, which leads to doom and destruction

He stated this during an event marking centenary of Fatima apparitions and Marian year celebration in the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, which was declared by Pope Francis and began on November 27, 2016 to end on November 26, 2017.

The Archbishop said: “Our people are hungry in the midst of much meat and thirsty amidst springs of clean water. Innocent people are being killed daily through ritual killings, Boko Haram bombings, Fulani herdsmen attacks, armed robberies, road accidents due to bad roads, while many more are roaming streets aimlessly with no particular destination. The nation’s economy is yet to find steady growth, and there are agitations all over the nation calling for change in the mode of governance.”
