Nigeria hosts Global Congregational Worship Hour
Emmanuel Oje Ehimika, popularly known as the Preacherman, is the visionary of The Jesus Dream (TJD) and Ministers Alive with headquarters in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria.
He is the initiator of The Jesus Dream (TJD) project that mobilises Christians of all denominations for an hour of joint worship at the same time worldwide, on June 30 at 9 pm Jerusalem time.
Preacherman also writes and publishes Ministers Alive Magazine to encourage Ministers of God and to foster unity among them. From his Abeokuta, Ogun State residence the Edo State-born preacher reaches out to the whole world.
What is The Jesus Dream (TJD)?
God’s greatest passion is to dwell with a man that bears His image and likeness. He told the Israelites that He brought them out of Egypt to dwell among them. (Exod. 29:46). Jesus came to do the Father’s will and He offered Himself for God’s perfect dwelling. (Col. 1:19).
When Jesus was about to depart the earth, He passionately prayed for the unity of believers, (John 17:11, 21,22,23), so that His Father will continually have a dwelling place on earth as written in the Bible.
“In whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.” (Eph. 2:21-22).
When we are united to become God’s dwelling place, we worship Him with our lips.
So, The Jesus Dream is the unity of believers in worship for the Father’s dwelling.
In 1989, God began to stir up my heart towards the unity of the body. In 1990, I began to preach about it.
Consequently, I started a fellowship in the estate where I lived in Asero, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. Then in 2004, I began to minister to Christian leaders about the need for unity among pastors.
In 2010, I was led to start The Jesus Dream worldwide hour.
The Jesus Dream (TJD) worldwide worship hour is an hour where Christians all over the world at the same hour declare the wonderful works of God wherever they are, as it was done during Pentecost.
Did people believe in you when you first started?
That is a very good question because it will help anyone who has heard God asking him or her to start something that is huge. When I started I was dancing alone to the music, I was hearing from God. You know what it means when you are dancing to music that only you can hear; your body movement looks foolish to onlookers. It was part of the process of building one into a strong vessel. When a visionary is treading on the path no one has trodden on before, he or she will suffer loneliness, especially with the pronouncements that I was led by God to make.
One day, my son and I were taking a drive and he said to me; daddy when you made the announcement that TJD was going to be the most Unifying Christian experience in the world since Pentecost; I said okay about ‘all over the world.’ But that of “since Pentecost” was like “Is my daddy really serious?” “But daddy, I see the world come into it now.” That day as I drove I felt fulfilled. My wife, my children, ministry workers, and partners felt; “well he said God told him,” I was alone for some time but gradually as the years went by they began to see the whole thing unfold and people began to come into it. As years went by, presidents, kings, and leading Christian ministers from all over the world began to partake. Then God’s grace brought in media houses across the world and the vision leapt, taking the world by storm.
How do people key into the vision?
Firstly, by having an understanding of what Jesus said when He made the statement: “I will build My Church.” Once a Christian understands what the building is – unity of believers, (Eph. 2:19-21), then it becomes easy to be fully a part of this move. For those whose hearts are stirred up to be part of this move, they can log into the website www.thejesusdream.org and also view messages on the YouTube channel: The Jesus Dream (TJD). They can also subscribe to the YouTube channel to receive messages as the Lord sends them. Our lines are: +234 8033490026; +234 909 012 3446.
Why do you call TJD the most unifying and powerful worship hour on earth?
Firstly, if God will use you to accomplish a great feat, you have to speak loud and bold. At such times people will hate you but keep at it. That is what I did and today it is becoming real to people. Joseph did it. David did it. Caleb did it and Joshua did it. Jesus also did it. Jesus said: “I said it so when it comes to pass you will know God sent Me.” (John 13:19).
TJD is a powerful worship hour. It is not a Christian concert. We are not entertainers. Our focus is not on a singer, a speaker etc. but entirely on God just like the 24 elders worship at the throne. No one is worshipping at the hour because he or she likes the preacher or singer. There is no need for a fashion display, but a heart ready to meet God.
The act of worship involved, which is declaring the wonderful works of God, is the first act of worship in the Bible.
As soon as the Holy Spirit came to birth the Church, He led the disciples who were praying in one accord to declare the wonderful works of God. That became the first act of worship before evangelism, singing, praying, fasting, preaching etc.
We found that the first sentence in Genesis deals with the works of God. Also, at the throne room in heaven, we are introduced to the 24 elders in worship, declaring that God is worthy to receive glory, honour and power because He (God) created all things – still talking about the wonderful works of God first.
God told the Israelites that He brought them out of Egypt not just to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, but to unite them and dwell in their midst.
“And they shall know that I am the LORD their God, that brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among them: I am the LORD their God.” (Exod. 29:46).
So God’s passion is to dwell in our midst. Hence the Scripture: “In whom, (Christ), you also are built together for God’s dwelling pace through the Spirit.” (Eph. 2:22).
Finally, we find excitement in the throne room in heaven because this purpose of God has been accomplished. And John said: “And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.” (Rev. 21:3).
So, our unity globally will enable God, in His magnificence, to dwelling in our midst as we offer the first act of worship. This makes this global worship hour very sensitive.
Also, the Holy Spirit was directly in charge of the worship time at Pentecost. It was after this act of worship that Peter stood up and began to address onlookers.
This is why the TJD advert has: ‘The Holy Spirit invites you all to The Jesus Dream to declare the works of God.’ It contains the Holy Spirit, our Lord Jesus, and God our Father – nothing about me or our ministry. So the vision is running on its own globally. It is not built around any man, but the Holy Spirit.
Finally, man was not created to stand before God asking for things. We were created to worship God. Prayer began after man fell. “This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.” (Isa. 43:21). “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:” (1 Peter 2:9).
So, during the hour, we are not in unity to ask for provision, protection among others; we shall be in unity for God’s dwelling, offering praise and fulfilling our original purpose.
Why does TJD always hold on 9pm Jerusalem time and also on June 30 and not on Nigerian time?
Centre is a symbol for unity. Centre is where everything comes from to the North, South, East and West. The Bible says Jerusalem is the centre of the nations of the world. You find that in Ezek. 5:5.
So, June 30 is at the centre of the year and Jerusalem is the centre of the nations.
One day I woke up and the Lord said to me make the reference time for TJD be 9pm Jerusalem time (all other countries to correlate their time) and I just obeyed and that was it. I didn’t even know there is a scripture that says Jerusalem is the centre of the nations of the world, but eventually it unfolded. So, we have the centre of the year, the centre of the nations of the world. So TJD is 9pm Jerusalem time and all countries correlate their time. For Nigeria, it is 7pm in the evening because we are two hours behind Jerusalem.
What is the secret of the growth of TJD worldwide?
When Adam was created, he did not grow. He messed up, but Jesus, the last Adam, grew from childhood to adulthood. So, any work that revolves around Jesus grows like an oak tree and not an overnight mushroom. When you build upon the Word of God and the level of revelations from the Holy Spirit to you flows unhindered. In fact, the ministry will flourish because of opposition.
The Holy Spirit opens up the Word of God to me. These revelations are not as a result of much study, but just grace extended to me for the work. I could be playing table tennis and the heavens open to me and I rush to write down what I heard and I return to my game.
God honours His Word. So, it is totally God’s mercy. I am not fantastic at fasting, praying and others, but I am obedient to His leading and even that obedience is by His grace.
The Lord gave us favour with the media across the world and now that we have translated TJD to the nine most spoken languages in the world. TJD is spreading like wild fire across the world. There has never been a move of God across the world in this manner. One jingles in all languages calling for a particular act of worship at the same hour across the world.
God searches our hearts to see the motives behind what we do. When it is for His glory, let hell be set loose, everything will work for the good of that vision. That is TJD for you. The vision does not depend on me alone now, but many believers across the world are spreading it on their own.
How do you feel knowing that you are making such great impact all over the world?
I feel good, and fulfilled. I wake up every morning knowing there is a purpose for living and a reward awaiting me in eternity; so, I focus on my daily personal walk with the Lord. The Lord said to me that the size of a man’s ministry does not impact (Him) God like the man’s love and humility. I have the Ministers Alive Vision where I encourage ministers and it is making impact at world level too. One thing is clear to me; the result being seen today is simply what God had done. I am only obediently walking in it by His grace. Even my obedience is by His grace. So, I have no reason to be proud. Firstly, my fasting, prayer, bible studies, etc. is nothing to write home about.
Even love, which is my main weapon, is still His grace. I want to be able to walk in love no matter the hurt because that is the image of a ministry that will have eternal reward. I see all I do with eternity in view. I see a lot of ministers step on each other, envy each other, and hate each other. It is dangerous for their life in eternity. I am at the global level in ministry, so, I can see clearly from where I stand that love and humility is what matters at the end. And I advise people that the greatest act is not climbing up there, but the ability to get up there and still come down here and fit in with the people.
How do you finance TJD?
The Jesus Dream is financed by free will offerings from Christians who discern it as the finger of God unfolding on earth. I do not have a Church or any business like a school and also the Lord has instructed me not to sell anything in the ministry. Our high quality international materials are given out free of charge. But we have been in a real fight – the enemy trying to make sure we do not have the resources. He does not mind if we build physical structures, but not unity of the body because that is what he fears. That is why Jesus says; “I will build My Church and the gates of hell will not prevail.”
More believers are now getting the understanding that their wealth is given to build the dwelling place of God which is our unity. “In whom, (Christ), you also are being built together for God’s dwelling place through the Spirit.” (Eph. 2:22).
When the children of Israel left Egypt, God gave them wealth. There was nothing to buy in the wilderness, so, it was given to build God’s dwelling place.
“Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring Me an offering: of every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye shall take My offering…. And let them make Me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.” (Exod. 25:2; 8).
God asked for the offering through Moses and the discerning ones quickly gave it. When others came to give, it was no more needed.
On June 13, 2021 at about 12 noon, God told me that He does not require everyone to build His dwelling place, but certain people that have been chosen by Heaven. He warned me never to expect offering from certain people, but to simply wait as He chooses them because it has to do with the hearts of the givers. I shared this encounter with my wife right there where I heard it and the next day, my wife and I had to visit an elderly couple. As we shared with them, the woman told me to reach out to a particular influential woman to support TJD. I insisted, we would not look up to any man or woman. I now realised why God spoke to me a day before.
God dwelt in all His fullness in Jesus Col. 1:19 and Jesus willingly gave His life, (John 10:18), so offering for those who desire God’s presence more than His presents, must come willingly.
We know that God is touching the hearts of His chosen vessels to support us, especially now that we need millions of dollars to translate TJD into all the languages on the earth. Ours is to believe and start. God knows what to do. We are translating international and national languages. We also need funds for teachings on unity in the media and for the printing of magazines, which we send to decision makers in the Church around the world.
We are now at a point when Christians are realising that they ought to spend more in this vision of unity; building with living stones, which Christ is directly involved. Once people have that understanding from the Scripture, they will begin to change because they know they will stand before the judgment seat of Christ where everyone will account on how he or she spent the resources God gave him or her.
For my staff and I, it’s been a total faith work, depending entirely on God using people to encourage us. It is exciting looking up to God.
How can ministers that were given the ministry of reconciliation become irreconcilable?
I minister to them and also encourage them. It takes a year to prepare for the one-hour worship. Many times God has spoken to me about the next TJD a few hours after the previous TJD – that is July 1, which is a sign of God saying continue, but at a slow and steady pace.
With the translation of TJD into different languages of the world we will have a lot on our hands, but we are trusting God for partnership for the work ahead. For those who will come on board, it will be that God has stirred them and I can tell you – they are favoured like those whose offering were accepted for God’s dwelling in the wilderness.
What will you say about the global reach of TJD?
TJD is spreading every year. Believers who catch on to it share it with others. When a mover is not attached to a man, but the Word it grows steadily no matter what the enemy tries to do to discourage the man. The Word of God in TJD is growing; TJD is prevailing.
In 2010, we tried our hands on foreign languages, but we could only get out French language but it wasn’t a standard output.
In 2021, the 12th global gathering God released His grace and we have TJD jingle call for worship in Hebrew, as well as nine other languages — English, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Hindi, Arabic, German and Russian. We also have it in Nigeria’s three major languages: Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo. The instruction from the Lord is not to stop the translation, but to continue. Men and women who honour God are financially supporting it every month. We have three companies handling the translations. One in the United States of America and two in Nigeria.
This is crucial to the TJD move because on the day of Pentecost when the Church was manifested Jews from all nations of the world heard the wonders of God in their languages.
Anyone who really loves God will love to be part of this – that God will be worshipped at the same time worldwide in all tongues and languages. It is mind-blowing!
How do we declare the wonderful works of God?
Awesome Father, You reign in majesty. You created the heavens and the earth. You brought water from the rock for Your children to drink. Awesome Father, You raised Jesus from the dead. I adore you.
Just recounting the miracles, in the Bible. At the end of the hour, thank God for allowing you be a part of the Great Assembly of The Jesus Dream (TJD). David looked forward to such a gathering. He said: I will give you thanks in the Great Assembly; among the throngs I will praise you (Ps. 35:18). Then confess: “I will not die; but live to declare your wonderful works in TJD 2022.” (Ps. 118:17).
After June 30, what next?
I will continue to minister to pastors about unity among them, which is part of what we do.
We have many churches and pray a lot in Nigeria, yet the country is facing so many challenges. Why?
It is not really about having many Churches. The issue is what goes on in those buildings. Many are marketplaces; while majority of the God raised Churches pray mostly about personal needs. Many ministers preach to keep their members. But our main job is to groom people to be like Christ. We were created first to worship. But we must pray now that we are in the world.
Even when we talk about unity in the Church it is mainly to protect us from enemies, rather than for unity. It is for God’s dwelling. This makes a huge difference.
We need to walk more in humility and love and seek God for His pleasure; I believe He will fix us. I use the word believe because no one can tell what we must do for God to act, He is God.
Any message for Nigeria?
God who brought light out of darkness and honey from the carcass of a lion is bringing glory from Nigeria to the world even at this time many people feel Nigeria is finished. No! God allows the worse to happen for the best to come. The best will come for all segments of Nigeria.
Have you had some discouraging moments?
Oh, so many of them. There has to be opposition. Great visions attract great oppositions, but again each of those discouraging moments was designed for me to learn the act of being tenacious. Let me give you a practical example. Before we had the 2011 TJD gathering, I did ask some Christian leaders in Nigeria to send in prayer points for us to pray. Very few responded and others ignored me. I understood! If I were in their shoes, I will think the same too, because I sounded like a joker. They didn’t respond and, so, I was discouraged. I felt if God sent me, why didn’t He talk to them to support me. When it was 24 hours to TJD hour, suddenly my daughter who was in charge of communications at that time called to inform me that there was a mail from Pastor David Yonggi Cho, who is acclaimed by the Guinness Book of Records as the pastor of the largest Church congregation in the world.
Pastor Yonggi Cho sent two prayer points, but I was asking for only one, from the Nigerian ministers I contacted. After the TJD hour that year, Pastor Yonggi Cho wrote back that they observed TJD and that they came in agreement with me. And God said to me; I am going to encourage and strengthen you. From that moment I began to look up to God not man.
Today, God is proving Himself and no man can share His glory over TJD. It is just like when Abraham and Isaac went up the mountain and God told Abraham not to kill Isaac anymore. Abraham began to look up to God that if not for God’s intervention Isaac would have died. Isaac also began to look up to God that if not for God’s intervention his father would have killed him. God will always bring every man to a point where they will keep looking up to Him and not to any man. That is when such a man can be used effectively for a divine assignment with a divine approval. He is not the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; but the God of Abraham, God of Isaac and God of Jacob. He is not the God of grandsons. That was a very trying moment in my life.
