RCCG Rose of Sharon to host interdenominational crusade, impact indigents, empower artisans
Pastor-in-charge of the Redeemed Christian Church God (RCCG), Rose of Sharon Parish, GRA Ikeja, Emeka Obiagwu, has called on Nigerians not to give up hope on Nigeria, saying God is interested in the country and would turn things around for good if only the people can look onto Him and trulyserve Him.
He said this at the unveiling of a non-denominational crusade titled, “Light Up Ikeja” that will hold onNovember 23, at the Police College, Oba Akinjobi way, Ikeja Lagos. Organised by the parish,Rev. Joe Olaiya of the Living Faith Foundation will be the guest minister.
With theme, “The Storm Is Over,” Pastor Obiagwu disclosed that the crusade formally known as ‘Ikeja for Christ Crusade’ was first held in December 2021 as part of the parish activities to commemorate its 25th anniversary, adding that as usual the church will reach out toits host communities with different food items, clothing, among other things.
Disclosing that the church in 2021 renovated of the science laboratory of State Senior High School, MuizBanire Road, GRA Ikeja, as a way of making the students to practicalised what they were taught and also to embrace science subjects.
the Pastor noted that apart from impacting the people in words and songs, this year’s offerings will include the provision of financial support to 20 small scale business owners within the church community, the procurement of equipment worth over two million naira for selected artisans, award of scholarship and uplifting of members struggling to stay afloat among others.
He revealed that the church’s vocational school, which is opened to the public, aims at empowering people with marketable skills, setting them on the path of productivity and financial independence through the provision of excellent services is one of their CSR initiatives.
Pastor Obiagwudisclosed that in September 2024 over 1,000 children from the church and its neighbourhood in Shogunle were equipped with school kits, as part of the church’s yearly,‘Back To School’programme, stressing that the church looks forward to impacting over 4000 families with various items this time around.
He said: “Knowing the complexities that come with the current economic challenges and the strain it has on families, Light Up Ikeja will provide the church another opportunity to spread the message of hope embodied in Jesus Christ and the compassion He exemplifies, through the provision of welfare packages for a minimum of 4,000 attendees. The programmewill avail attendees the opportunity to engage in corporate worship in songs and prayers for the nation, our leaders, families, among others.”
Apart from clerics from other churches ministering, guests artistes billed for the night include, Femi Okunuga, AbimbolaPraiseway and the Fragrance of Life (RCCG Rose of Sharon resident choir).
