The Bible … A map to guide us
Glory be to the Almighty God forgiven us His written word-The Bible. The entire Holy Bible reveals a living God. “But on the first day of the week, at dawn, they came to the place where his body had been put, taking the spices which they had got ready. And they saw that the stone had been rolled away. And they went in, but the body of the Lord Jesus was not there. And while they were in doubt about it, they saw two men in shining clothing by them: And while their faces were bent down to the earth in fear, these said to them, why are you looking for the living among the dead? He is not here, he has come back to life: have in mind what he said to you when he was still in Galilee, saying, The Son of man will be given up into the hands of evil-doers, and be put to death on the cross, and on the third day he will come back to life”- Luke 24:1-7.
The Bible’s reliability cannot be overestimated. “…the word of the Lord is upright, and all his works are certain”-Psalms 33:4
The scripture is a map to guide us because we are strangers on earth. (Psalm 119:19)
It continually teaches us the difference between right and wrong. If you are looking for godly wisdom, the Bible is a reservoir of it (Psalm 119:97-104). The light in God’s word is enough to walk through any dark situation of life. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And light unto my path”-Psalms 119:105. The truths never change and relevant to all ages. “Heaven and earth will come to an end, but my words will not come to an end”-Mark 13:31.
God’s word must be put into practice. Don’t ignore the parts that make you uncomfortable. You must get familiar with the Bible. You will need it to combat temptation in your everyday life. Ignorance of it makes you vulnerable to deception. The Bible is strictly for transformation not for information. “Which has come to you; and which in all the world is giving fruit and increase, as it has done in you from the day when it came to your ears and you had true knowledge of the grace of God”-Col 1:6.
The Bible has a way of revealing who we are and what we are not. “For the word of God is living and full of power, and is sharper than any two-edged sword, cutting through and making a division even of the soul and the spirit, the bones and the muscles, and quick to see the thoughts and purposes of the heart”-Hebrew 4:12.
There is a great number of people in the Bible we are to draw life lessons from their stories. They are not just written down for nothing. It is done because of us. “For this reason, as we are circled by so great a cloud of witnesses, putting off every weight, and the sin into which we come so readily, let us keep on running in the way which is marked out for us”- Hebrew 12:1.
Now then, let us see some Life’s lessons from people in the Bible.
Adam and Eve, the first set of human made in the image of God, and the first human to share an intimate personal relationship with God. “And God said, Let us make man in our image, like us: and let him have rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over the cattle and over all the earth and over every living thing which goes flat on the earth. And God made man in his image, in the image of God he made him: male and female he made them”-Gen 1:26-27. As Adam’s descendants, we all reflect to some degree the image of God and He is very much interested in our fellowship.
To be continued.
