The spiritual man judges all things – Part 2

Timi David

A lot of believers get confused with the above scriptures.

They wonder why Jesus commanded us not to judge others and Paul encourage the spiritual man to judge all things.

The truth is that these scriptures are not conflicting; rather they are complementary.

Jesus commanded us not to condemn others by passing judgment on their person. He didn’t say that people’s actions should not be judged.

There is a huge distinction between what a person does and his justification before God.

We weren’t saved by our good deeds. I love the way the New Living translation puts it in Eph 2:8-9

“God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.

Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it”

We are not justified by our good works. For this reason, we are not permitted to condemn whom God Justifies.

God’s love for His children is unconditional. He won’t love you more if you do good, neither will He love you less, when you do the wrong things.

But your action will clearly show how much you love Him. Doing the wrong things shows you don’t really love God the way you should!

No one is permitted to bring anything against God’s elect, not even the devil and his demons.

“Rom 8:1 “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus…”

However, this passage does not say that believers can’t be corrected, when they are wrong.

Many of us are not yet perfect; and we won’t be until we get to heaven. We are all striving for perfection.

We are bound to make mistakes, because we only know in part.

We don’t have any right to condemn others, but we can judge their actions.

A lot of ministers believe because they are anointed, they are only accountable to God and to no one else.

Accountability is a matter of integrity. If you are the head of a ministry, you should obey the law of the land that registered your ministry as a nonprofit organisation.

You must use the funds contributed by members for the purpose for which it was raised.

It is true that God called you, but it is human being that He uses to fund your operations. You must not betray their trust.

A minister must also be responsible in what he teaches and preaches.

A call into the ministry does not guarantee success in ministry.

You must study to show yourself approved unto God a workman that need not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.

There are many lazy ministers around town, who have refused to search the scriptures.

They have refused to study to show themselves approved unto God.

They practise shameful things and their messages are misleading the flock of God.

Many of them are sincere, but are sincerely wrong! For these reasons, Paul admonishes believers to judge all things.

You can’t just swallow everything you hear from a pastor.

You must sensor them before you take them in.

That’s why you are given the Holy Spirit, so He can teach and guide you into all truth.

The Spirit is always bearing witness with our spirit and helping us discern between good and bad.

“BRETHREN, IF any person is overtaken in misconduct or sin of any sort, you who are spiritual [who are responsive to and controlled by the Spirit] should set him right and restore and reinstate him, without any sense of superiority and with all gentleness, keeping an attentive eye on yourself, lest you should be tempted also”. (Gal 6:1) AMP

Did you see the way Paul spoke to the believers? He didn’t say anointed ministers, Bishops, G. O’s and Senior pastors can’t make mistakes.

He said when they do; those who are spiritual should restore them in the spirit of meekness.

It is the responsibility of believers, who have better understanding in a subject matter of our common faith, to restore those who have delved into error, but this must be done with all humility, love and not with a sense of superiority.

Wrong teachings should not be corrected with criticism, rather they should be corrected by teaching the truth from God’s Word.

The Word of God is the only tool for Correction, reproof and instruction in righteousness. The truth is that Knowledge puffs up.

However, to be effective, we must walk in love towards those who err and correct in the spirit of meekness.
