God has raised the church to dispel darkness in our world. Jesus said in Matthew 5:14: “You are the light of the world — like a city on a hilltop cannot be hidden.” God wants the church to dispel darkness that is trying to fill up everywhere in the world today.

Key verse: Exodus 32:26: “Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp and said, “who is on the Lord’s side? Come to me.” And all the sons of Levi gathered around him.” (ESV)

God has raised the church to dispel darkness in our world. Jesus said in Matthew 5:14: “You are the light of the world — like a city on a hilltop cannot be hidden.” God wants the church to dispel darkness that is trying to fill up everywhere in the world today. Darkness is increasing in our time and it is a pity to say that much darkness has encroached into the church and God is looking for people who will be on His side to dispel this darkness in and outside the church. God wants you to make yourself available as an instrument of light to attack every form of darkness around you, so that, whatever does not represent the light of God around you will be taken away.

God wants us to go out and sweeten our world because the world is bitter. Jesus said in Mathew 5:13 that we are the salt of the earth. God calls us to be people that will sweeten our environment. We must not add to the bitterness that is already existing in the world; not even in the church. The church should be a nice place where those who come to serve God will be happy that they came into the church. I call the church the alternative community. What is happening outside the church should not come into the church. There is bitterness everywhere and it looks as if today, that bitterness is also trying to overwhelm the church. Psalm 11:3 says: “ If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” As we have been observing a lot of things going wrong in many places, God wants to raise people who will address these problems.

Moses made a call to the children of Israel saying: “Who is on the Lord’s side?
Let him come unto me.” In other words; Moses asked, who will follow Jesus? Since after the fall of man, God has been calling men to fellowship with Him. God is interested in your soul and it is not His will that any man should die in his sins and spend eternity in Hell. He wants to save our souls today. I am calling you to come over to Jesus’ side so that your soul will find perfect peace.

Elijah said to the people, how long will you be between two opinions? If the Lord be God, follow Him; but if Baal, then follow him (1 Kings 18.21). I persuade you, today, to follow Christ for there are lots of spiritual blessings in following the Lord.

The tribe of Levi chose to be on the Lord’s side and their choice was rewarded with great honour as they received a blessing of being the priests to God on behalf of the nation of Israel (Numbers 25.11-13). God wants to make you king and priest unto Himself (Revelation 1:6).

Those who are on the side of God will make a difference in their environment. If you will pursue God and abandon the pursuit of material wealth, which today seems to be what many people are after, prosperity will smile on your side. When you get God, you get prosperity. When you get God, you get everything you are looking for. Those who will be on God’s side are people God is looking for to come and be His battleaxe and do great exploits for Him in our time.
