God’s awesomeness is defined as, “his immense power and unmatched attributes.” All through the scriptures, we find the works of God and his footprints display his awesome splendour and majesty. God is awesome because of his unique works. What he did in the past he can repeat today (Psalm 92:5-6). Below are seven reasons God is awesome.
Firstly, God can do all things, anytime, anywhere. Ephesians 3:20-21 says: “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
Secondly, God is sovereign and does what pleases him. Psalm 135:5-6 (AMP) “For I know that the Lord is great and that our Lord is above all gods. Whatever the Lord pleases, He does, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all deeps.” Psalm 135: 7-12 lists some of the other things God did.
Thirdly, the awesome God demonstrates that nothing is too hard for him to do. He gave Abraham and Sarah, a son, even when they had passed the childbearing age.
In Genesis 18:13-16, we find the tripartite dialogue between God, Abraham and Sarah. “And the Lord said to Abraham, ‘why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘shall I surely bear a child, since I am old?”’ Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.” But Sarah denied it, saying, “I did not laugh,” for she was afraid. And He said, “No, but you did laugh!” Then the men rose from there and looked toward Sodom, and Abraham went with them to send them on the way (NKJV).
Fourthly, the awesome God sees and knows all things. Hagar called the Lord, Beer Lahai Rio,” meaning the God who sees, because God saw her in her desperation and affliction when she ran away from Sarah. Genesis 16:13-14, reads: “Then she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, ‘You-Are-the-God-Who-Sees;’ for she said, “Have I also here seen Him who sees me?” Therefore the well was called Beer Lahai Roi; observe, it is between Kadesh and Bered (NKJV).
Fifthly, God is a provider. Abraham called the Lord, “Jehovah Jireh” because he miraculously provided a lamb for him when he needed a lamb for sacrifice.
Genesis 22:13-14 reads: “Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So, Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son. And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the Lord, it shall be provided,” (NKJV).
Sixthly; the awesome God does not lie, neither does he change. Numbers 23:19: “God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?” (NLT).
Seventhly, God does countless miracles. Your miracle may be the next. Job 5:8-9, “If I were you, I would go to God and present my case to him. 9. He does great things too marvelous to understand. He performs countless miracles,” (NLT).The miracles of God are limitless.
