OOU hosts former speaker of house of representatives

The Institute of Education, Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, last week, hosted the former Speaker of House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole.

Bankole was invited to deliver a lecture at the Institute’s 4th Open Lecture Series titled, ‘Tertiary Education: Pathway To Sustainable Development.”

While doing justice to the topic, he encouraged the students to be studious in their studies and to shun all that will distract them from achieving their goals in life. To the lecturers, he encouraged them to help their students occupy key positions even after they are out of school.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Saburi Adesanya, expressed his joy and support for the program and urged the Institute to “keep doing the good work.” Saburi, who was represented by   Prof. Kamardeen Balogun, highlighted the importance of the program to the development of students’ potentials.

The Director of the Institute, Prof. Alaba Adenuga, while giving his own address pointed out that the lecture was organised to address the current issues in the educational system, for the development of education and the country as a whole. In achieving this, he said, “eminent scholars and technocrats are invited to share their thoughts on any aspect of the educational system.”

The event was graced by eminent traditional rulers in the area, principal officers of the university and teeming number of students.
