• As Diocese Of Evo Hosts Church Of Nigeria Standing Committee Meeting
Bishop of the Diocese of Evo, AnglicanCommunion, Rivers State, Rt. Rev. Innocent Uchechukwu Ordu has inaugurated two committees in preparation for the Church of Nigeria Standing Committee meeting to be hosted by the Diocese in February 2022. He urged the Committees’ members to show diligence, commitment and sacrifice, as well as ensure a very successful one-week event. The Central Working Committee has 104 members with Sir (Barr.) Bright Nda Owhor as Chairman and 63-member Fund-Sourcing Committee with Sir (Barr.) Mike Ejims-Enwukwe as Chairman.

Ordu, who said members were carefully chosen to deliver result, said the National Standing Committee meeting is a huge event that may also feature consecration of new Bishops; and national meeting of Presidents of Mothers Union and their executives.

He said: “The main event, which is the meeting of the Standing Committee comprises all Bishops of about 170 Dioceses in the Church of Nigeria and their wives, including six other delegates from each Diocese. We are, therefore, expecting about 1,600 delegates. We should make their visit to Evo Diocese very pleasant and memorable.”

Ordu said the Primate and Metropolitan of the Church of Nigeria, His Grace, Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba was confident that the Diocese of Evo would do well and as such, “we cannot disappoint our Primate.”

In their acceptance speeches, the two Chairmen promised to do their best with their members to deliver a great event in line with the Diocesan theme: “With God we shall do valiantly.”

The inauguration, which held at All Saints’ Cathedral, Rumuokwurusi, Obio, Port Harcourt was attended by the Committees’ members.
