A Senior Pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Kayode Pitan, has enjoined Christians at various workplaces to let their lives reflect the character of Jesus Christ and in whatever they do.

Pitan who was a guest speaker at the commissioning of the 20 Chaplains at the Perazim School of Chaplaincy, RCCG Camp, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, last week, noted that actions speak better than words in spreading the gospel.

He said: “Being a Christian in a secular workplace demands a lot from you, but you must maintain your stand like Daniel. Christians in the workplace face a lot of pressure. Your boss or colleagues may not like you because you are trying to do the right thing. Do your work diligently and be exemplary in words and deeds; you may think that the only way to get ahead in your business/career is to be close to the owner, but this may not always favour you in the end.”

Pitan who is also the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank of Industry (BoI) advised the newly ordained chaplains to fight against greed, saying it is what leads to the downfall of many Christians. He prayed to God to empower them in their journey to heaven.

The General Marshal, Perazim Chaplains International Organisation and Chief Executive Officer, Perazim School of Chaplaincy, Pastor Olufunke Adegunwa, in his contribution noted that Nigeria needs more chaplains to foster peace in the country.

She disclosed that 20 Chaplains were commissioned onsite, while the other chaplains from the United States of America could not be commissioned for logistic reasons, adding that they will get their badges in November at the yearly conference held in the United States.

“With the recent happenings in the country, it is clear that we need chaplains now more than ever in every establishment in the country. We must get the message of peace to everyone, spread the gospel through our lifestyles even before we preach the gospel, “ she said.

The good thing, according to Adegunwa, is that one can be a chaplain till death and also work in any space including schools, courts, prisons, and hospitals among others.
